Three And Four Panel Labeling
Three and four labeling of square and rectangular containers is becoming more and more common place. Consumer products desiring “visual shelf appeal” from more than a single container side often make use of this type of labeling.
Three or four panel labeling of square or rectangular containers does not necessarily require special handling of the container itself but does require a unique approach to dispensing and controlling the label to the container prior to actual application. The label must be partially dispensed into the path of the oncoming container while insuring that it is held perfectly horizontal, and with the centerline of the label aligned accurately with the centerline of the front panel of the container. Once the front panel portion of the label is adhered to the front panel of the container, the side panels need to be smoothly pressed against the sides of the container as the final portion of the label that is holding it in place is released from the label backing. If the label being applied is a four panel label, the process requires another step which is the secondary wiping of the trailing panel of the label against the back of the container.
Every step of this process requires very close control of the label as the container is transported by the label dispense point. If the label and the container are both handled properly a smooth, perfectly aligned multi panel application is achieved at the desired speed. If it is needed we can supply a system that can be quickly and easily changed from a three panel application to a four panel application.
At Griffin-Rutgers we specialize in helping customers find the optimum type of labeling system they need to do the job they face, at an affordable cost point, and at a level of automation that fits their production situation and line speed. View our Multi Panel Labeling products:
