Come and hop into Cockpit!

Today companies both large and small have more complex requirements involved in the planning and execution of their production. Generally this means more people and processes which leads, logically, to more vulnerabilities. Griffin-Rutgers now offers a software solution called Cockpit that ensures reliable control and monitoring of a company’s production machines.

In addition to material procurement, production planning and operating technology form the foundation of manufacturing control in modern production management. Whether it be coding or marking units, production line sensors or camera systems, Cockpit allows for the quick and simple control of the production from a PC, tablet or smartphone.

Cockpit offers a new and unique possibility to control all operating machinery, regardless of machinery manufactuer, even if no Ethernet interface is present. Almost any device can be integrated and adding a unit is quick and easy via the drag and drop symbols in the software. Machines can be freely divisible into categories to get an overview of every production line in your company in each production location.

Each installed machine is graphically displayed by Cockpit on the monitoring device with an icon. One click gives you immediately the necessary current technical information such as machine status, activity, errors, etc. Failure threshold values can be determined for each individual unit and enable automatic alerts with email notification. For critical production systems a webcam can be installed to allow for live coverage of the system.

The basic Cockpit package comes with three functions of your choosing which are apps that we call widgets. Additional widgets can be added at any time and since Cockpit is designed as an open platform software it allows end users to develop and customize their own widgets depending on their particular needs. Cockpit can even interface with a company’s ERP system thereby allowing communication from it of anti-counterfeit, track & trace and serialization programs to the individual printers on the line.

In summary Cockpit offers:

  • A professional management of all in-house machines
  • Graphical representation of each production unit with a floor plan of the room
  • Monitoring is location independent, connected via a company’s intranet.
  • Almost any addressable device, via Ethernet, can be connected
  • Monitoring of all machines technical data offered by individual machines (i.e. machine status, errors, maintenance alarms, etc.)
  • Numerous enhancements and integration with ERP systems are available
  • Access on the go with mobile devices
  • Runs on all platforms via an internet browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc.) regardless of operating system
  • Allows for use of webcams for important or trouble-prone production areas.
