Thermal Ink Jet (TIJ) Printers Offer Reliability

When it comes to selecting a printer to code or mark variable information onto your packaging or product, reliability is crucial. TIJ printers offer that reliability. They are simple and maintenance-free, making them the perfect fit for your coding and packaging needs.

TIJ PrintersThermal Inkjet is a technology that was developed by Hewlett Packard in the 1970’s, and refers to the method by which the ink is expelled through the nozzle, and behind each one is a minute heating element that when energized, locally raises the temperature of the ink causing it to form a bubble which displaces the ink forward and out of the opening.

A cartridge and a solid-state print head are the only two parts that make up a complete TIJ system. No other parts or pieces are necessary.

When you install a TIJ printer system from Griffin-Rutgers, you gain many benefits such as:

Being able to turn it off and walk away
With no shut down routine, you can simply turn the system off. The only thing that needs to be done is to remove the cartridge, place it in its clip, and leave it; even over an extended holiday season.

No maintenance required
The entire ink delivery system is changed every time a cartridge is replaced. Having spare cartridge on hand is the only service necessary; and the entire process takes less than 10 seconds.

Turn it on, and run
TIJ printing requires no start-up time. There’s no cleaning or purging necessary. All that is needed is to give the cartridge a wipe and start printing.

Consistency with each print
The delivery system of the cartridge means that the last print is as accurate as the first. There’s no fine tuning necessary to maintain accurate viscosity, as the ink is completely contained within the cartridge.

More reliable legibility because of higher resolution
When the coding and labeling is going to be scrutinized by a camera system, a higher resolution offers the best image. Because a TIJ printer uses True Type fonts and offers the ability to increase or decrease the dot resolution (dpi), there’s less chance the camera will reject the code due to poor quality.

Always on point
The position of the print is determined during the physical installation and set-up of the printer; not by the path of the ink. This guarantees that every time the printer is engaged, the print is in the same location.

Install and ignore
Once the TIJ system is installed and running, the operators simply need to input the data required for the print and change the cartridge when necessary.

Because of the reliability of TIJ printers, there’s no need to keep a technician on alert; nor is there any need to purchase any expensive maintenance contracts.

At Griffin-Rutgers, we offer a full line of TIJ printers. If you would like to discuss your particular needs contact us and we will put our 50 years of experience in providing printing, coding and labeling solutions for packaging to work for you.
