Carton Coders

Carton coders provide a simple, cost effective way to identify products packaged in plain cartons.

Whether marking product names, lot numbers, expiration dates, printing barcodes or general package tracking information on cartons made of various materials, Griffin Rutgers can help you select the right printing solution to meet the information needs of your business. Griffin Rutgers offers a range of carton coding systems suitable to print on virtually any carton surface. Product identification and tracking information helps to keep customers safe and your production line running full time. Not all cartons are coded on-line as part of the automated packaging process. Sometimes it is more efficient or flexible to code smaller cartons off-line. At Griffin-Rutgers we specialize in helping customers find the type of carton coder they need to do the job required by their industry regulations, at a cost point they can afford whether that be in-line or off-line. Look at our Carton Coder products below to view:

  • Small size single printhead thermal inkjet coders that can print high resolution text, bar codes and images at high or low speeds across varying surface features.
  • Thermal inkjet coders employing multiple printheads to create seamlessly stitched taller print areas, bar codes and images,
  • A laser coder that can create a permanently etched mark on a wide range of materials that absolutely cannot be removed.

What is a “Carton Coder” and is it what you need?

A carton coder is a printing device that adds product identification or late stages variable information to the outside of a shipping carton. Variable information printing can be of many different varieties ranging from a simple Production Date, Batch Number and Expiration Date to a complex 2 dimensional high density code or other type of bar code. Variable information can be required on almost any product, in some form, ranging from cases of beer, to pharmaceutical packaging, to a carton of bakery muffins, to a carton of pasta, to a carton of cans of soda. The secret to successful carton coding is that many of these applications require differing print technologies to meet the need to print on different materials and/or shapes. Our Carton Coding products encompass different carton coding technologies that can address a wide range of applications.
